Releasing Windows 11, version 25H2 to the Release Preview Channel Windows Insider Blog

Tassomai saves teachers time in two ways; it teaches AO1s, while also reducing the time they need to spend analysing their students, meaning they can focus on teaching and targeting intervention. When version 25H2 becomes generally available, it will be delivered via an enablement package that applies to version 24H2. That means it will take just a few minutes to download and install, requiring a short reboot to switch from 24H2 to 25H2. It also means there should be no compatibility issues between the two releases, so all your apps and games should run just fine once the upgrade is complete. The download links were first shared on Reddit by user @-TekkieBoy, and later reported by Neowin. The links include both x64 and Arm64 builds, along with the enablement package (eKB) for those already running Windows 11 24H2.

In contrast, version 24H2 is already one year into its support cycle. The Redmond software giant has finished its work on the OS, so that’s why the ISO files are now stored on the servers. Despite Microsoft didn’t announce them openly, the files are genuine media files that you can use for clean installation and upgrades. It’s important to note that while these files may correspond to the final release of version 25H2, Microsoft hasn’t yet announced the feature update.

Compared to the days of multi-gigabyte upgrades that could take hours, the enablement model is a welcome improvement. It also means IT departments can roll out the update more quickly across large numbers of machines. You may not be familiar with it, but the enablement package is Microsoft’s way of making the Windows upgrade process simpler. This is an old development practice of installing feature flags and code throughout a solution, but these are hidden until the developer is ready to turn them on.

Tassomai is fantastic and could be very helpful for a lot of people. Windows Insiders can now download the official ISO installation media for the upcoming Windows 11 version 25H2 release. If you are on 24H2 today, upgrading to 25H2 should be fairly low risk.

Upgrade paths and options for upgrading

The official RTM ISO media is now online and can be downloaded straight from Microsoft. While Tassomai offers many benefits, it’s important to acknowledge its limitations. Some students may prefer face-to-face interaction, and not every topic can be fully covered through digital quizzes. However, combining Tassomai with in-person instruction often helps to bridge these gaps, making it a well-rounded educational tool. Tassomai’s approach is grounded in educational psychology and neuroscience, with evidence suggesting that spaced repetition and adaptive questioning are highly effective for long-term retention. The platform leverages these principles, reinforcing memory pathways through repeated exposure to key concepts.

Has been very useful and great easy access for students (can do on phone on bus to school etc). To improve it would be good to have breakdowns of what students are commonly getting wrong in our school compared to similar centres. We got sent this as a separate spreadsheet but a built in part of the software to do this and export to csv would be amazing.

I also quite like the concept of the tree, but I would much rather it was used with a better format of questions. 25H2 support will begin at general availability and not during finexo review the preview period. While many devices are only just now receiving 24H2, it was finalized earlier this year and only receives 24 months of updates (36 months for Enterprise/Education). Once 25H2 is officially released, it will reset that clock, meaning testers who adopt it now will eventually get a longer runway for security features and updates. There is a good Reddit discussion that talks about the fact that this makes upgrading to 25H2 almost instantaneous for anyone already running Windows 11 24H2 that has the enablement package.

The ISOs are available to download via the Windows Insider Program website, but the media should be production ready and safe to install on non-Insider PCs. Microsoft originally intended to release the ISO media a week ago, but delayed them at the last minute for an unspecified reason. You can also join the Windows Insider Program and selecting the Release Preview channel if you like to live on the “bleeding edge” of updates and this is an easy way to try 25H2 ahead of everyone else. Just keep in mind that preview builds may still have minor bugs or quirks. On this side of things, there are new policy controls that allow organizations to automatically remove certain pre-installed Microsoft Store apps.

My school switched from Bedrock Vocabulary to this for our daily homework quiz app, and I never thought I’d miss Bedrock, but at least that involved some brain power. With this you just end up memorising the questions and guessing until you finish the answers. And you have to do so many quizzes to get the daily goals, they’re like 20 points gained per quiz, 80 points total needed per subject, 3 subjects per day. The questions kind of stay on the screen for a weird amount of time before the next question shows up so it’s just long enough to wonder if it’s glitching but as soon as you think that it moves on. That’s a very small complaint but it does kind of mess with the experience. There are a couple of good aspects of it though.

Integrating Tassomai in the Classroom

Or by enrolling in the Release Preview Channel using the Windows Insider Program settings on Windows 11. To install the update, simply double-click the “.msu” file and select the option to apply it. Throw a virtual snapshot on virtual machines before performing the update. Even though enablement packages are low-risk, no update is completely free from the possibility of something going wrong. The update packages improvements and fixes that were installed as incremental updates during the 24H2 lifecycle,. Upgrading to version 25H2 resets Microsoft’s support lifecycle clock. This release will receive security updates and bug fixes for 24 months from its general availability date.

Then when ready, the flags can be turned on to make the changes and updates go live. Since 24H2 and 25H2 share the same core OS and system files, the monthly updates already contain the new features. At the same time, Thurrott confirmed that the ISOs and enablement packages are live in the Insider channels. That means members of the Windows Insider Program can already access the update by opting into the Release Preview ring.
